About Me/Find Me/Awards and other stuffs

Trisha Leigh Shufelt is a self-taught, award winning artist,  whose endeavors have led her on a varied path of creative expression.  Sculptor, jewelry designer, & painter are just a few of the hats she has chosen to wear over the years.  As a sculptor of whimsical mushroom characters, Trisha is often called, "the mushroom lady"  by her peers & fans.  Adding a bit of charm & whimsy to her ooak creations, each one is based in part on actual specimens found in nature.  Meticulously hand-sculpted & painted, Trisha utilizes the finest blend of polymer clay & heat-set oil paints.  Items found in nature are often used to give her pieces an overall woodsy feel.  In 2009, Trisha created a pocket field guide to accompany her mushroom creations entitled, "The Mushrooms of Faerie Field Guide".

Trisha's mushrooms have been sold throughout the United States & abroad.

"Mushrooms give us a glimpse of Faerie, something we

can physically see, magically appearing overnight & oftentimes disappearing the next.   Mushrooms give us a taste of Faerie itself."

As a jewelry designer, Trisha finds inspiration for her Faerie Court Portal pieces in Art Nouveau, nature & Faerie images.  The focal point of each piece is a hand painted glass stone, or Faerie Portal.  Brass findings, polymer clay, natural elements & bead  work often accompany these unique designs.  Her pieces have sold

around the world, adorning the necks of fantasy enthusiasts & artist's alike.  She has also collaborated her jewelry designs with  inspirational fantasy artist Lisa Steinke & vintage photographer Dorothy Wallace.

As a painter...

"It is said, we do not choose the Fae, they choose us."

This is the case with regards to Trisha's paintings & sketches.

"I can honestly say, I have never had a talent for either

until  recently.  Something is guiding my hand.  Do I

walk among the Fae?  Anything is possible if you believe?"

Trisha's paintings range from the light & dark elements

of Faerie, childlike to Gothic, fairy tale to mythical.  She works primarily

in graphite pencil & digital painting.  She also uses traditional watercolor.

Her influences include Arthur Rackham, Trina Schart Hyman, Brian Froud, Waterhouse, Duloc,  Maurice Sendak, Dr. Seuss, and Thomas Canty.

As for what is on the horizon????

Anything that sparks her Inner Fae!

Blessings!  Trisha Leigh

My Faerie Portal jewelry is showcased on http://www.yourfantasycostume.com .  I am very honored

by the wonderful article written by ethereal singer/songwriter, Priscilla Hernandez.

I've copied and pasted the article below...

Trisha Leigh Shufelt, writer, sculptor and artist  has created INNER FAE CREATIONS, that highlights a lovely collection of  jewelry featuring unique  pendants that would please any  noble Fae creature, using brass, copper and antiqued silver filigree and findings, which are then wrapped or used with Czech, German or vintage glass faceted stones. Colorful and catchy it will drive everyone’s sight to your necklace! Some are dyed  and aged with special inks that make them look even more mystical. Some with a clear Art Nouveau influence, others looking more tribal and ancient… gems, beads and iridescent materials build the magic turning some of the models alive as a starry night or the surface of an enchanted point. Covering the seasons and several nature themes, there are  models devoted to every season, to the light, darkness, pixies, the sea… and other fantasies coming out from the heart of the artist to share with us.

This is another of my  favorite models called “the pixie portal”. I love dragonflies…!  I refer a lot to them in my music.

You cannot miss her faerie portal vials, constructed around a glass vial these are  stunning. They are hand painted and surrounded with the finest polymer clay, fired,  and sealed. I like these in particular because I’ve not found anything similar any other place and looks like a Faerie carrier of secrets.

All of these pieces are made  upon request. All you need to do is to contact her from her website to get more details.

There are also some lovely bracelets and also rings  like the following

You can watch a rather complete gallery of models here in your fantasy costume. Trisha has a gallery running in this very site so you can see some of her loveliest creations in high resolution in this website.

I’ll be the proud owner of one of her pendants soon so I promise to be back with a picture!
